Position Overview
The Appliance Tester is responsible for evaluating the performance, safety, and functionality of appliances before they are sold, delivered, or serviced. This role ensures all appliances meet company and manufacturer standards. The Appliance Tester plays a key part in maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Inspection
- Inspect and test appliances such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, dishwashers, and microwaves.
- Verify that all electrical, mechanical, and functional components operate correctly.
- Identify defects, performance issues, or safety concerns.
- Run diagnostic tests using multimeters, test cords, and manufacturer procedures.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record test results, inspection notes, and any needed repairs.
- Tag appliances as “Passed,” “Failed,” or “Needs Repair.”
- Communicate issues to technicians or management for follow-up repairs or adjustments.
- Maintain organized logs and digital entries for inventory tracking.
Quality Control
- Ensure appliances meet safety guidelines and company standards before being moved to sales, inventory, or delivery.
- Perform final inspections after repairs to confirm proper operation.
- Assist in identifying recurring product issues to help improve efficiency and reduce returns.
Warehouse & Support Duties
- Help move appliances throughout the warehouse using proper equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe testing area.
- Assist with loading, unloading, or prepping appliances for delivery or display when needed.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in appliance repair, testing, or a technical field is preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems (training provided).
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, voltage testers, and manufacturer test modes.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and record-keeping ability.
- Ability to follow testing procedures and safety guidelines.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift or move heavy appliances (75–250 lbs) with proper equipment and assistance.
- Standing, bending, and repetitive testing motions throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working in warehouse conditions (temperature-varying environments).
